Without faith it is impossible to please Him. Hebrews 11:6
The understanding of saving faith which the Scriptures set forth
is that it must embrace or consume the whole person.
Faith is not one faculty or ability among the many we have,
faith is the whole person – man, woman, or child – rightly related to God by the power of the Holy Spirit in Jesus Christ.
To often we relegate and apply faith to certain areas of our lives,
i.e. – we use faith when we ask for forgiveness,
we use faith when we need his help,
we use faith when were depressed,
but we trust something other than the Lord Jesus in the actual details of our lives.
To live this way is to act as if these areas of our lives are free from sin and thus don’t need the sanctifying power of Jesus.
Oswald Chambers wrote that “Faith claims the whole person and all that God’s grace can make him, just as it claimed the whole of our Lord Jesus’ life.”
Our Lord Jesus was the “normal” man,
not just the “average” man,
but the man according to God’s norm.
His life was not cut up into compartments,
one part spiritual/sacred
and the other part earthly/secular;
it was not in any way a divided life.
Jesus focused every aspect of his life, the “norm” for all lives on the will of God for us.
Through baptism, each believer has been given a faith which lives focused on Christ.
To live by faith is to exercise faith in every aspect of our living.
May God grant it to be so.
